Give Yourself Permission

I don’t think we give ourselves enough permission to fail, succeed, change, to enjoy, to love or to stop. To not be so busy that a day becomes a blur and weeks become a fleeting moment.

Stop right now.  Stop reading and take just a moment and think – what have you learnt in the last hour, 24 hours or week? What memories, relationships and experiences have you relished in?

I will wait for you.

Now what approval do you need to give yourself, right now?

Once again, I will wait for you.

Many a time have people come to me for help with their health and fitness, seemingly with the handbrake on. It’s like they are waiting for permission to advance. They possess superb technique, are eating to their goals and are honest with their intensity in training. They are generally positive people. Everything appears to be ok. There is just that something that is missing. Subtly, they are being held back. Not physically, at least.

Give yourself permission to be someone else, to achieve different goals, to take different actions and to live a different life if you need to.

You don’t need anyone else’s permission to succeed. But, if you feel you need to, well then – you’ll always have mine.
