Focus On It, But Don’t Sweat On It

There is a time to focus on the goal. It will always be the intrinsically driving and motivating reason why you do what you do. A question I always ask my clients is, “If time and money weren’t an issue, how would you want your body to look and feel?” Ask yourself this question now.

Once we have it crystal clear in our mind and heart, we need to let it go and focus our energy into the action that takes us closer to our desired destination. Of course, the destination is important – it’s what got you focusing on your health a little more – however it isn’t the most important factor. Here’s a little secret; it is the journey, not the destination that actually matters the most. Einstein said it best, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”

I see and have experienced firsthand this intensity of wanting the goal to be achieved, then all of sudden I realise I am not actually achieving the goal – I am just thinking about the goal all the time. Each of us can become so confused, believing that we are doing something about achieving it only to realise we are just mentally shuffling our plan around in our head. I call it ‘paralysis by analysis’.

Really, at the end of the day, it’s just health and fitness!

Focus your attention, not your intention into achieving the next step and your daily ritual. What do you need to do each day to bring the best YOU that YOU can be to achieve the goals you want to achieve?

To make progress, focus on doing.
